Program Highlights

This is a full time master’s programme prepares graduates for future employment within the expanding areas of fashion buying and merchandising management in the global market.


Students on this programme will acquire acute analytical skills and knowledge that are required to practice and perform at a variety of levels and markets across the fashion industry.


Through in-depth research and case studies of US, European and Indian markets and brands our aim is to produce the graduates (at postgraduate level) that will be the leaders and managers of this sector of tomorrow that can offer strategic vision for fashion brands.
This creative business programme focuses on aspects such as trend identification, range and product development, workflow management, pricing and product production analysis, brand management, and optimization skills for buying through critical analysis of sales and competitor brand scrutiny.

Programme Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this programme of study SOFT/ACM graduates will be able to:

 

  • Systematically structure and apply the principles of fashion buying and merchandising and the inter-disciplinary approach to problem solving, decision making and teamwork while creating a strategic plan of operation;

  • Critically analyse fashion production methods, pricing, business applications, industry structure and how fashion buying and merchandising relates to this within a home and the global context;
  • Generate solutions within the contemporary context of buying and merchandising practice in relation to trend research, design and product development, garment / fabric sourcing, supply chain management, range planning and distribution, sales analysis and profit management;
  • Independently initiate and carry out analytical projects using quantitative skills including data analysis, interpretation and extrapolation to a professional standard making valid choices based on reasoned argument.

 

Fashion Buying and Merchandising Program is jointly run by School of Fashion Technology, Pune and Accademia Costume & Moda, Rome. It covers Pre- Production, Production and Post- Production aspects in Fashion Merchandising.

 

Prototype development of apparel products being a key focus, the Program grooms students to understand fashion through Design Research, Forecasting Techniques, Range Development and Presentation along with Production Process.

 

The program gives an opportunity to learn in the industry environment. The program is conducted in close collaboration with fashion brands for students to understand the market scenario of fashion retail and supply chains.

 

Students learn through real case studies and develop effective product, market and consumer insights to meet industry requirements. On job training under industry experts makes this program unique.

 

Selection Criteria

Any graduate with good academic record, managerial, observation and soft skills may apply for the course.

 

Students with fashion related education and/or experience shall be considered for preference.
