DESIGN COMPETITION

1. Traditional Weaver

Process of
Competition

Pre-Competition:

  • Participants must register by the specified deadline and submit a brief description (200 words) of their chosen traditional weave, its cultural significance, and the technique used.
  • Design visualisation on paper 3 to 5 (colour rendered) with the following details:
    • Construction details with Specifications
    • Repeat Size
    • End-Use of the textile material developed

On the Day of Competition:

  • The students will render (by hand or digitally) the application on the garments created by the weaves.
  • The whole project will be submitted (hard copy), and the
    presentation will be done to the jury members.
  • Judging will be based on creativity, authenticity, craftsmanship, and presentation.

Deadline

  • The concept with the visualisation in the form of neat and rendered sketches. (digital or hand) is to be submitted on or before 12th February 2025.
  • The submission can be in the form of a PPT or PDF with a maximum of 10 slides

Rules and Regulations

  • Each college can submit up to 3 entries. Participation is allowed either as an individual or as a group of up to 3 members.
  • Participants must focus on showcasing traditional weaving techniques and designs from any region of their choice.
  • Entries must adhere to the theme of traditional weaving and be authentic representations, avoiding modern or machine-assisted patterns.

2. Redesign for Unsustainable (Upcycling)

Competition

 

Pre-Competition:

  • Participants must register by the specified deadline and submit a brief description (200 words) of their chosen traditional weave, its cultural significance, and the technique used.
  • Design visualisation on paper 3 to 5 (colour rendered) with the following details:

  • Each college can submit up to 3 entries, with participation allowed as an individual or as a group of up to 3 members.
  • The creation must primarily use upcycled polyester (at least 80% of the material), with up to 20% allowance for other materials.
  • Designs should focus on sustainability, creativity, and practical application, adhering to the themes of upcycling and environmental consciousness.

3. Promotional Film / Poster

Process of
Competition

Pre-Competition:

  • Participants must register by the specified deadline and submit their entries (film files or digital poster designs) along with a brief description (100–200 words) explaining the theme and intent.
  • Select the topic related to the theme.
  • Prepare your narration3.
  • Create story4.
  • Edit the audio-visual according to the timeline

On the Day of Competition:

  • Shortlisted participants will showcase their films or posters during the event and deliver a 2-minute presentation explaining their work, its concept, and its intended impact.
  • Judging will be based on creativity, adherence to the theme, clarity of message, and overall presentation.

Deadline

  • The concept with the visualisation in the form of neat and rendered sketches (digital or hand) is to be submitted on or before 12th February 2025.
  • The submission can be in the form of a PPT or PDF with max 10 slides.

Rules and Regulations

  • The concept with the visualisation is to be submitted on or before 6th February 2025.
  • The submission can be in the form of a PPT or PDF with a maximum of 10 slides.

4. Art of Flat lay

Process of
Competition

 

 

Pre-Competition:

  • Participants must register and submit their flat lay photographs (max. 10) along with a brief description (100–150 words) explaining the concept and relevance to the theme.

On the Day of Competition:

  • Shortlisted participants will exhibit their photographs in a gallery- style setup.
  • Each participant/team will give a 2-minute presentation about their composition, concept, and creative process.
  • Judging will be based on originality, thematic relevance, composition, and overall visual impact.

Deadline

  • The concept with the visualisation in the form of neat and rendered sketches (digital or hand) is to be submitted on or before 12th February 2025.
  • The submission can be in the form of a PPT or PDF with max 10 slides.

Rules and Regulations

  • Each college can submit up to 3 entries, with participation allowed as an individual or as a group of up to 3 members.
  • Entries must feature a flat lay composition aligned with the given theme, showcasing creativity, arrangement, and storytelling.
  • Photos must be original, unedited or minimally edited, and submitted in high resolution (JPEG/PNG format).

5. Design for Community (Craft)

Process of
Competition

Pre-Competition:

  • Participants must register and submit a brief description (200 words) of their chosen community craft, its cultural relevance, and the materials and techniques involved.
    • Construction details with Specifications
    • Design Development
    • End-Use of the textile material developed

On the Day of Competition:

  • Participants must present their completed craft piece along with a 2-minute explanation of its concept, community connection, and creation process.
  • Judging will be based on craftsmanship, creativity, cultural representation, and presentation. If applicable, participants may display work-in-progress visuals or materials to demonstrate their effort and authenticity.

Deadline

  • The concept with the visualisation in the form of neat and rendered sketches (digital or hand) is to be submitted on or before 12th February 2025.
  • The submission can be in the form of a PPT or PDF with max 10 slides.

6. Business Proposal Presentation

On the Day of Competition:

  • Shortlisted participants will give presentations for 15 min

Deadline

  • The A4 size Business plan document is to be submitted on or before 12th February 2025.
  • The submission can be in the form of Word or PDF.

Rules and Regulations

  • A complete Business plan should be in A4 size , times Roman font Size 12 Heading 14
  • Report should include the following -
    • Brief of the project1.
    • Problem Statement2.
    • Vision & Mission Statement along with project objectives3.
    • Market analysis4.
    • Organizational structure5.
    • Strategy and Implementation6.
    • Product range with details of cost7.

7. Oral or Poster Presentation for Students and Faculties

The participants are expected to send the abstract mentioning the following:

  • Above all, in APA format
  • Entry: Individual Author or Maximum 2

Competition For Institutes

Health in Fashion - Green Initiative on the Institutional Level

We invite the institutes to showcase their meticulous efforts toward the green initiatives they are following on the institutional level. It can include social responsibility, sustainability, diversity, conscious learning, and any practice promoting health in fashion.

Submission

  • A concept note of 500 words.
  • Submission of the concept should be on 10th February 2025.
  • Submit on gfi@soft.ac.in
  • All the participants will get a participation certificate.
  • Format: Only Microsoft Word files will be accepted. PDF submissions will not be accepted.12 points, Times New Roman font, and 1 inch (25.4 mm) margins, A4 size.
  • The final presentation can be a PowerPoint presentation.
  • 3 best finalists will be awarded.
"Green Fashion Showcase" (Fashion Show)

The theme for Fashion Show:

"Fashion Vitality: Nurturing the Health of Fashion Ecosystem—My Own Way"

Green Fashion India (GFI) invites aspiring designers to participate in "My Own Way," a sustainable fashion design competition inspired by the GFI Conference theme, "Fashion Vitality: Nurturing the Health of the Fashion Ecosystem—My Own Way." This competition provides a unique platform for students to explore the convergence of tradition and modernity, showcasing their creativity while addressing the critical need for sustainability that proposes "Healthy Fashion."

The competition emphasises sustainability, urging designers to use eco-friendly materials and practices that minimise environmental impact. At the same time, it
challenges participants to highlight zero-waste, upcycling, reconstruction, the use of certified sustainable material, traditional crafts, such as weaving, embroidery, or dyeing, or simply combining any sustainable design practice of their own, providing a modern interpretation that aligns with today's fashion trends.

"My Own Way" is a call to action for young designers to use their creative voices to shape the future of fashion, honouring the past while building a sustainable, innovative tomorrow.

The details of the competition:

  • Students are challenged to design a fashion collection (min. 6 outfits) that will keep in mind any of the sustainable practices.
  • Using one or more Indian traditional craft techniques and environmentally friendly. Fabrics and materials (please highly consider organic cotton, organic wool, organic silk, organic linen, etc.) even working with textile waste.
  • Using the sustainable design techniques of zero waste, upcycling, and recycling.
  • Showing opportunities for craftsmen, those involved in the textile supply chain.

Submission

  • Create a concept note on "My own way" and submit the following for your own application
  • Mood board
  • Story Board
  • Design Board

Deadlines:
The concept with the visualisation in the form of neat and rendered sketches (digital or hand) is to be submitted on or before 6th February 2025.
The submission can be in the form of a PPT or PDF with a maximum of 10 slides.
NOTE: The participants must get their models and arrange makeup and music.

PARTICIPATION FEE for COMPETITION

Per Student: Rs. 500/- including GST

The winners will be given a chance to attend the conference physically for 2 days at the conference venue, including the green fashion showcase. It also includes lunch and hi-tea on 6th and 7th March 2025.

The participants will be given a shared live link for 6th March 2025—the Inauguration, Keynote, 7th March 2025 Design, Expert Session, and Design Showcase.

Academician/Industry representatives: Rs. 1500/- including GST

The registered academic/industry representatives will attend the conference physically for 2 days at the conference venue, including the green fashion showcase. It also includes lunch and hi-tea on 6th and 7th March 2025.
